"Mark Armstrong Founder, Managing Director of Body Active Consultancy (BAC) forged a relationship with Byrnecut  Australia Pty Ltd to look at new and innovative ways to improve safety performance at its Telfer Alliance operation.

Body Active Consultancy was recognised as being a leader in the field of exercise physiology which is the reason Byrnecut Australia were very happy to have him onboard.

Byrnecut Australia wanted to use specialised programs to address the number of strain and sprain injuries being reported by our underground work force so introduced the BOSS Program - 'Byrnecut Ousts Strains and Sprains'.

Mark is supported by a strong team of skilled professionals who push the boundaries in the field of specialised programs which hit the spot with our diverse workforce. This is achieved through a can do hands on approach which is warmly welcomed by all working underground at Telfer.

The resulting improvement in a number of critical areas and the improved understanding on methods to reduce the impact of strain and sprain injuries on site indicate the success and worth of the BOSS program.

We look forward to the continued support of Mark and his team."

"The senior management team of Jetcrete Australia wanted to consider the use of a specialised program to address the number of strain and sprain injuries being reported by our underground work force.

Body Active Consultancy was recognised as being a leader in this field and we were receptive to the specific program tailored to suit the type of work carried out at our sites.

Mark Armstrong and his team were able to build a rapport and win the confidence of our onsite personnel with a hands on approach to our work and a willingness to listen to the issues and concerns from our underground operators.

The resulting improvement in the rate of incidents and the improved understanding on methods to reduce the impact of strain and sprain injuries on site indicate the success and worth of the program."

"As a result in an increase of Lower Back Injuries (LBI), The senior management team met to determine ways in which we could reduce the number and frequency of these injuries.

We consulted BAC in an effort to identify a program that would suit both the unique on site environment and add benefit to the employees on a continued basis. Previous experience with BAC has shown that their programs would be ideally suited to the type and structure of work we were undertaking.

Through the leadership of Mark Armstrong, his team were able to identify and target specific areas that were nominated as high potential risk spots. Individual programs were set up to combat the effects of these areas with an outstanding success rate that saw us move from 4 LBI per month (average) to zero LBI at the end of the program.

The resulting improvement in the rate of incidents and the improved understanding on methods to reduce the impact of strain and sprain injuries on site indicate the success and worth of the program.

"I first worked with Mark Armstrong and Body Active Consultancy in late 2003. A program BAC had run on a major LNG project in north-western Western Australia was showing some great results in terms of employee participation, improvement in employee health and a reduced incidence of accidents and injuries.

Mark brought the Industrial Athlete Program to Transfield Worley and the program gave our employees the opportunity to make choices in terms of their general health, their preparation for work and how to maintain their fitness by making changes in their working environment.

Mark and his team became a key component of the Transfield Worley thrust on improving the health and safety of their employees, which contributed to the lowest ever number of recordable incidents in TW's ten year history. Additionally there was a discernable lift to employee morale and clear evidence that the development and learning of employees were getting at work was moving home to their families and friends.

The relationship with BAC is maintained to this day."

"I originally injured my shoulder some years ago in a bicycle accident. I met Mark Armstrong from Body Active Consultancy for the first time whilst working fly in fly out. Mark assessed my shoulder and recommended a MRI scan from there it was discovered a torn subscapularis tendon Marks job was to assist me with the rehabilitation of my shoulder before and after surgery with Mark's help I was able to return to work in a very short period of time. Since that time we have developed a professional relationship over the past 8 years in the area of occupational safety and health particularly in fly in fly out mining operations.

Mark and his team at Body Active Consultancy have been responsible for designing customised work force health management programs for Barminco, facilitating, reviewing and measuring these initiatives, at multiple sites throughout Western Australia which is anticipated to spread to the rest of Australia.

Body Active offers a pro-active service built on quality of service delivery along with understanding our clients needs resulting in great program results at each site where a program is implemented.

I look forward to working with Mark and the BAC team in the future and obtaining the ongoing success with each program that is put into place for the Barminco organisation."
