Research Collaborations
BAC and Steel Blue
In 2008 BAC was offered the opportunity to work with a client whose workforce were experiencing a high level of ankle injuries. Through an on-site investigation of the mechanisms causing the injuries it was determined that a potential solution was altering the style of work boot. Consequently, BAC collaborated with a boot designer and manufacturer to develop a boot design to suit the specific needs of this client. Investigating the options on the market, BAC commenced working with Steel Blue in 2008 which has seen the two companies form an official research association for the advancement of footwear available to the Mining and Oil & Gas Industry.
BAC and Wrights Hardware
In 2007 BAC recognised that in order to reduce the number of hand injuries on-site, a solution would be to investigate the style and quality of gloves available for specific work site tasks. BAC approached Wrights Hardware who, amongst other things, is the sole distributor for a range of gloves called Ironclad. Three years after the initial collaboration to address the issue of work gloves on-site, BAC is now involved in ongoing joint research with Wrights hardware to continue to seek out more efficient ways of protecting the hands from injury in all work environments.
BAC and Buckaroo
While implementing a program to reduce low back injuries it became evident to BAC that a new underground miner’s belt was needed as part of the overall solution to this problem. Reviewing numerous manufacturers across Australia and trialling several of their belt products, BAC contacted Buckaroo Leather Works Australia. Since mid 2008 the two organisations have been working together to design and modify working belts as required for a range of clients with the primary aim being to reduce the risk of sprain and strain injuries to the different workers in the varied work environments throughout Australia.
