Research & Supply Collaborations
BAC and Bad Backs
In 2011 BAC identified an opportunity to add an additional service to its client base through working with Bad Backs (a supplier of ergonomic seating and accessories operating on the eastern seaboard since the year 2000 and here in WA since 2008) in the provision of ergonomic seating. This collaboration now means that BAC as part of its workplace ergonomic assessment program can provide through Bad Backs when required ergonomic seating delivered to the workplace on a 3 day trial period. This service is completely free of charge with no obligation and includes chair delivery, instruction on use and ergonomic set up.
This now enables our clients to provide their employees with the opportunity to test chairs for effectiveness in addressing those issues identified in our ergonomic assessment’s prior to having to make any purchase decisions.

BAC and HydraSafe
Following several years of experience and numerous projects delivered to the resources, manufacturing, construction, transportation and chemical industry, BAC recognized the requirement for a suitable electrolyte and energy replacement solution in the workplace to combat the risk of worker dehydration. As a result, BAC recently commissioned ARL, a NATA accredited laboratory, to undertake an independent and comprehensive comparative analysis of three leading products currently available on the market. Simultaneously trialling these three products infield during the first quarter of 2011 and with the interpreted analytical report in hand, BAC concluded that the HydraSafe oral re-hydration system was “best in class” scoring in the uppermost percentile against a nutritional, consumer taste and return on investment profile. BAC is proud to announce that it has signed an exclusive endorsement and distribution partnership with the Australian owned and operated company HydraSafe, with initial feedback from our client base indicating positive physiological health and wellbeing results from their workforce.
Disclaimer: Body Active Consultancy undertook this independent analysis as part of their internal quality assurance process and at no time was under the direction of a third party.

BAC and Wrights Hardwear
In 2007 BAC recognised that in order to reduce the number of hand injuries on-site, a solution would be to investigate the style and quality of gloves available for specific work site tasks. BAC approached Wrights Hardwear who, amongst other things, is the sole distributor for a range of gloves called Ironclad. Three years after the initial collaboration to address the issue of work gloves on-site, BAC is now involved in ongoing joint research with Wrights Hardwear to continue to seek out more efficient ways of protecting the hands from injury in all work environments.
BAC and Perception Mapping (PM)
To accurately collect data of personal and group opinions of the workforce on topics such as manual handling, sprain and strain (remove s from sprain and strain) injuries and their own health and well-being and how these areas impact workplace performance, BAC and PM have been working collaboratively over the past six years developing a range of tools to achieve this. BAC has been utilising PM as a third party that analyses the data BAC has collected using these tools, to ascertain views, opinions and perceptions of on-site culture and the potential for change. This has enabled customised and targeted interventions to be introduced to companies involving a (there were two components take out the one before) behavioural component which has resulted in very positive outcomes. Both companies are always looking at ways of improving the on-site ‘lifestyle’ and with four tools already developed to analyse this data, it is the belief of BAC and PM that we are continually achieving this.
BAC and Steel Blue
In 2008 BAC was offered the opportunity to work with a client whose workforce were experiencing a high level of ankle injuries. Through an on-site investigation of the mechanisms causing the injuries it was determined that a potential solution was altering the style of work boot. Consequently, BAC collaborated with a boot designer and manufacturer to develop a boot design to suit the specific needs of this client. Investigating the options on the market, BAC commenced working with Steel Blue in 2008 which has seen the two companies form an official research association for the advancement of footwear available to the Mining and Oil & Gas Industry.
BAC and Buckaroo
While implementing a program to reduce low back injuries it became evident to BAC that a new underground miner’s belt was needed as part of the overall solution to this problem. Reviewing numerous manufacturers across Australia and trialling several of their belt products, BAC contacted Buckaroo Leather Works Australia. Since mid 2008 the two organisations have been working together to design and modify working belts as required for a range of clients with the primary aim being to reduce the risk of sprain and strain injuries to the different workers in the varied work environments throughout Australia.
