Our Team
Mark Armstrong - ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist - a founding member of BAC which commenced delivering services in 1991, Mark’s role as Managing Director sees him actively responsible for the operational delivery of BAC’S national projects. He is an ESSA Accredited and practicing Exercise Physiologist. He was educated at the University of WA and has three degrees in Physical Education and Exercise Physiology. Mark has a broad base of experience in the areas of both Musculo-skeletal health and health and well being which he keeps current and shares continuously with the team members of Body Active Consultancy. He aspires to be the very best in his field and accepts nothing less from his team which is why the company is regarded as one of the best in its area of expertise. In 2009 Mark was awarded a Fellowship with the Australian Exercise and Sports Science Association in recognition of outstanding service to the industry and ESSA.
Lydia Armstrong - a founding member of BAC. Lydia is responsible for the successful co-ordination of all administration functions. Her attention to detail and quality are of the highest standard, qualities the company has come to rely on for the continuing high level of documentation output.
Maurice Sauzier - National Business Development Manager. Maurice brings 25 years technical and Corporate Health and Fitness Promotion development and management experience to BAC. Maurice has tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Sports Science and recently completed a Grad Certificate Diploma of Organisational Human Resources and Safety. With his original experience being obtained as an Behavioural Scientist and Exercise Physiologist, Maurice expanded his knowledge into other directions, including 6 years Coffey Environments [Occupational Hygiene / Human Factors], 3 years Prime Health Group [Executive Health Screening / Work specific PEFA’S] and 10 years Director / owner Corporate Health and Wellbeing SME businesses [Fit at Work, Fit Backs at Work and Health Management Strategies].
Kathryn Williams - an integral part of BAC, Kathryn brings a wealth of experience to the BAC office, and is the support network for our team to ensure the 'behind the scenes' requirements for projects are organised and delivered. She is also involved in the maintenance of our reporting mechanisms for our projects.
Jessica Roberts - BAC also welcomes Jessica Roberts to the team in the role of PEFA (Pre-employment Functional Assessment) Coordinator. Jessica has spent 3 years coordinating all medical procedures as well as events for World Class and International athletes on scholarship with the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS). Her experience in ensuring all elite athlete’s had met their medical requirements before being granted scholarships and competing in world class events enables her to bring a broad knowledge on all policies and procedures and the importance of how they can be met successfully, to this role.
Nathan Deans - ESSA Exercise Scientist. Attained Honours in Bachelor of Human Movement Science at Southern Cross University, Lismore. His position as Research and Development Manager with BAC reflects his capacity to keep the company team members up-to-date with the latest statistics and information in the areas of health, well being and musculo-skeletal injury and prevention.
Tom Mulcahy - ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Senior Exercise Physiologist. Tom obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health and Physical Education from the University of Notre Dame. Tom also holds his Certificate IV in Occupational Safety and Health and Certificate IV in Training Assessment. He has an eye for detail in all of the programs he designs, implements, facilitates and measures. Since he started with the company in 2007, Tom has delivered numerous successful projects for BAC National and West Australian resource sector clients.
Dane Casserly - ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Dane completed his Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at The University of Notre Dame and has been working with BAC since 2008. Dane approaches every project he undertakes with an enthusiastic and committed nature and prides himself on the consistent high calibre of his work.
Chris Bardowski - ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Chris completed his studies at Edith Cowan University at the end of 2008 and joined the Body Active Consultancy Team in 2009. Chris has shown himself to be a valuable addition to the company with a background in the mining industry and extensive experience in health and fitness.
Cameron Hoy - ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Cameron graduated with an Honours of Applied Science in Human Movements from the University of Queensland with a focus towards musculo-skeletal health and rehabilitation and an enthusiasm in applying research into practice. Based in Brisbane, Cameron was the first employee in the eastern states to join this nationally growing company and has been responsible for the implementation of a number of programs in the area of musculo-skeletal health with nationally recognised mining, construction, manufacturing as well as oil and gas companies. He looks at attaining the best possible outcomes for both the client and their workforce while ensuring that the sustainability is planned right from the start.
Will Hegerty - ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Will has completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health and Physical Education from the University of Notre Dame and a Graduate Diploma in Exercise Science. Will has worked in the areas of Musculo-Skeletal Rehabilitation as well as the Health and Fitness industry, both of which have given Will experience in dealing with a variety of health and physical assessments, medical conditions, varying degrees of exercise capacity and a large number or rehabilitation protocols, which puts him in good stead to manage our rapidly growing Pre-Employment Functional Assessment area.
Ashleigh Shaw- ESSA Accredited Exercise Scientist. Ashleigh completed a Bachelor of Science (Exercise Science and Rehabilitation) at Edith Cowen University in 2008 and has recently joined the BAC team. Ashleigh has acquired knowledge in a number of areas of the mining and construction industry over the last 2 years through analysing different job tasks and their effects on the human body. Additionally, Ashleigh also has experience in developing and implementing musculoskeletal injury prevention (with a specific focus on manual handling) and musculoskeletal health programs, skills that should prove to be valuable with her inclusion to the company. Ashleigh is currently completing her Accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist.
Ben Carrick - Currently nearing completion of a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Notre Dame and in the process of gaining ESSA accreditation, Ben was introduced into the BAC team in July 2010. Amongst other tasks Ben is conducting the pre-employment functional assessments, requiring him to interact and assess a number of clients on a daily basis. Ben is a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a keen desire to learn, which has made him an important addition to the Body Active Team.
ASSOCIATES
It is BAC policy that should other allied health professionals work for BAC that they must also be fully Accredited with their respective governing body. An aspect that is thoroughly scrutinised prior to engagement.
Dr Brian Galton-Fenzi, holds adjunct Professor status at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, at the school of Health Sciences. He has a major interest in safety and risk management in the workplace. He has gained his Fellowships with the Australasian Faculties of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, and with the Faculty of Public Health Medicine, and practices in Occupational Medicine and the effects of work on all workers, and also reviews the effects of major plants on the community. He is interested in fitness for work and health surveillance, so optimising human resources particularly in the resource sectors, the health industry and the IT environments.
Dr Brian Galton-Fenzi is an accredited medical specialist by Work Cover WA and he is also a fellow of the Safety Institute of Australia.
Gerard McNeill graduated from the University of Western Australia and is a Director and founding partner of Perception Mapping. Perception Mapping (PM) is an Australian based international diagnostic company with advocates in USA, Russia, Indonesia and South Africa. He has a strong background in business planning, training, and business management. His focus has been on developing high performance work teams and strategies to effect cultural change. PM provides rapid, accurate and cost-effective methods to tap into the collective perceptions (or genius) of the people in your business…and allow you to make the right decisions for the future!
With this approach PM and BAC have been working collaboratively over the past four years developing PM tools that allow BAC to accurately capture thoughts on workplace health and fitness, manual handling and sprains and strains with respect to the effect on workplace performance. This has enabled customised and targeted interventions to be introduced to companies with positive outcomes.
Future developments of PM with BAC will be the consideration to include the areas of stress, nutrition and working postures.
Peter Merrilees is the medical business manager of Point of Care Diagnostics (POCD): specialists in patient-side medical diagnostics, agents for many innovative technologies that are shaping and changing health management in Australasia.
POCD has been a leader in point of care testing in both Australia and New Zealand for over 14 years, with many of their products the recognised industry standard in a variety of disciplines. Their customers include many of the countries' top companies, hospitals and research institutions. POCD's core businesses include: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, drug and alcohol screening, fertility testing and patient self-monitoring: providing solutions for any on-site testing enquiry.
BAC and POCD have been working together since the start of 2006 so that BAC can ensure their customers continue to receive the highest quality service available.
Dr Chris Wallman is a Chiropractor working in Rockingham, WA. Completing his studies at Murdoch University, he has a specific interest in both rehabilitation and injury prevention, as well as patient education in postural correction and work ergonomics. With the growing rate of industrial work being based in the office, as well as manual labour being replaced by heavy duty machinery, the need for postural awareness and correction continues to grow, which accounts for Chris' interest in this area.
Working together with the team at BAC, Chris aims to improve the biomechanics and ergonomics in the work area, as well as educating people in such workplaces as to how they can prevent injuries in the work environment.
Vivian Oldfield is a podiatrist who works with the Excel Sports Group. He completed his podiatry studies at Curtin University. He initially spent some years in the Geraldton area covering the central western region. He then spent another 2 years based in Bunbury. Now Viv's focus is with sports and injury management cases from his clinic in Osborne Park. He has worked closely with BAC on several projects, but more recently involved as the consulting principal podiatrist working on the underground boot/footwear study that was completed with Byrnecut Mining in Telfer.
Barry Harwood is a well known allied health practitioner as both a masseur and fitness/gym instructor for the past 40 years. His wealth and depth of knowledge in the massage area has provided the Body Active Consultancy team members with the latest in both the theory and practical aspects of this important skill.
Mr Harwood provides BAC members with both theory and practical reviews at least twice yearly and is always there to clarify issues in this area as they arise.
