Cliffs Natural Resources
BAC receives the approval from Cliff's Natural Resources to commence new scope of works at the end of June at their three sites in the Southwest of WA.
Ngarda
BAC continues to develop companywide “Smart Moves” initiative. It is expected that this project will be completed by the end of June with the plan to roll out across all sites (both metropolitan and regional) starting in July 2011. Other projects being managed by BAC continue to produce results for Ngarda Civil and Mining.
Mining and Civil Australia
BAC successfully completes a warm up for work pilot program at one of Mining and Civil Australia's (MACA's) sites and currently awaits the evaluation results from MACA to deter mine if the program is to be rolled out across all MACA operational sites in Australia.
Heatley Industrial and Safety WA
BAC submits a comprehensive manual tasks program for the Heatley Group for their consideration. BAC expects approval of the program in the immediate future with a roll out over nine sites in WA and South Australia.
Coates Hire
The delivery of the new manual tasks training program 'higher handling' by BAC for Coateshire in WA is off to a very good start. BAC is currently awaiting implementation timelines for the same training package in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

Glove Technologies
BAC are pleased to announce a collaborative research partnership with work glove manufacturers Glove Technologies and Wrights Hardware. The aim of the partnership is to improve the current hand and injury profile methods used by Wrights Hardware when matching the hand protection needs with the work/task/environment of an underground Drill & Blast crew. The project will be spearheaded by Doctoral candidate David Donaldson from Curtin University in Western Australia.

Drillistic Solutions
BAC prepares for the introduction of the Drillistic Solutions training package into a major drilling company in WA as part of a major pilot program in musculo-skeletal health.
Mining and Civil Australia
In the area of 'Warming up for Work', BAC has commenced a pilot program with Mining and Civil Australia (MACA) at one of their sites in WA which will act as a 'lead-in' to introducing this initiative across all of the sites where MACA is currently operating.
Byrnecut
BAC continues to have great success with the Byrnecut “BOSS Program” at Telfer. Recently Hydrasafe the new revolutionary hydration supplement was introduced to site with a great uptake by the workforce.
Sandvik- Warehousing Division
BAC commences a twelve month program incorporating three major Sandvik Mining and Construction Australia warehouses; one in WA, Brisbane and NSW. WA and Brisbane have started with NSW to commence shortly.
Coates Hire
BAC and Coateshire reach agreement in WA on the introduction of an advanced delivery model of the Coateshire 'higher handling' manual handling program. BAC commenced this delivery model in April and early indications from the branch managers are very positive. The rest of the country are currently in discussions with BAC to roll out the new version in the coming months.

The second stage of the work by BAC on the manual handling project at three major sites in WA for Sandvik Mining and Construction Australia Pty Ltd is to commence at the end of the month.
Drillistic Solutions
BAC announces the development of its 'DRILLISTIC SOLUTIONS' training package designed and customised for the Australian Drilling Industry. This package has been the result of 18 months of research, development and testing in the drilling industry by Body Active Consultancy with the assistance of a number of its current long term clients. Part of the package was recently outlined at the Drill 2010 Drilling Conference held in Adelaide. The final assessment of the training package and its components are coming to a successful close and BAC will be releasing the package into the drilling market in January of 2011. Further details will be released early next year so watch this space.

Coates Hire WA commenced module four of the 'Higher Handling' manual handling program this week in the South West. Performance reports on module two of the program were finalised and sent to NSW and Queensland respectively.

The much anticipated Ngarda Civil and Mining 'Smart Moves®' program was successfully launched this week by BAC at the Belmont headquarters of this organisation and will be managed by BAC for the next 12 months.

Sandvik to commence a work force health and musculo-skeletal program for its warehousing operations in August involving a number of primary locations throughout Australia.
Intrepid Mines
BAC has completed 50% of ERT assessments for Intrepid Mines and is currently in the process of assessing the information to establish accurate functional baseline measures will the remainder of assessments to be completed over the next 2-3 weeks.
Ngarda Baseline Health Assessments
BAC has now presented a report outlining the results of the Baseline Health Assessments conducted in June and July to Ngarda Civil and Mining for their consideration. A decision is to now be made as to the first step for implementing a program to address the health concerns identified.

BHP receives final version of educational DVD on sampling and other associated topics from BAC and is very happy with the final product which will be used throughout its sites for both BHP personnel and contractors.

BAC has presented St John of God Health Care with the first report since completing the first stage of the musculo-skeletal assessments at Murdoch Campus. A presentation of the findings is due to be completed in August.

BAC commences work on development of customised Pre-Employment Functional Assessments for Ngarda Civil & Mining.
St John Of God Murdoch Campus
BAC has commenced working with St John of God Health Care at the Murdoch Campus in the area of prevention of musculo-skeletal injuries. The first stage of the assessments has now been completed with a report due for consideration.
Drill 2010 Conference
BAC accepts an invitation to present in the area of pre-employment functional assessments at the Australian Drilling Industry Association’s Drill 2010 Conference in Adelaide in September.
Ngarda Baseline Health Assessments
BAC has now completed baseline health assessments with Ngarda Civil and Mining at their head office in Belmont and a report outlining the results and recommendations will be presented for consideration next week.
Alliance Manual Handling Completed
BAC has successfully completed it's manual handling training for Alliance on the Pluto Project in Karratha.
Intrepid Mines
BAC to commence ERT assessments in July with Intrepid Mines to establish accurate functional baseline measures to be used to maintain required fitness levels for this function.
CBI Proposal
BAC has submitted a proposal to CBI for additional training to be conducted on the Pluto Project.
Sandvik MH Assessment
Sandvik Mining and Construction Australia Pty Ltd assessment of its sites throughout Queensland with respect to the risks of manual handling have now been completed. In Western Australia the assessments have started with Karratha being the first and the remainder to be completed in August.
BAC & Ngarda
BAC has commenced working with Ngarda on a number of projects in Perth, in addition to the BHP Yarri site.
MH Training for Alliance
BAC has started Manual Handling training for Alliance on the Pluto Project.

Drill 2010 Conference
BAC is delivering manual handling presentations and will have a display booth at the Drill 2010 Conference in Adelaide from September 22nd 2010 - September 25th 2010.
BAC/ BHP DVD's
BAC and BHP are currently working collaboratively on the making of 3 DVD’s looking at the sampling process and how to do it both safely and physically correct so as to minimise the risk of injury.

BAC is now writing a regular article for the Australasian Drilling magazine in the area of musculo-skeletal health.

BAC will commence working with Rock Australia in June in the area of Musculo-Skeletal Health.
John Pica
After four years at Body Active Consultancy, Mr John Pica has accepted another position with a Perth-based company and has therefore resigned from his position with Body Active Consultancy. IFAP has approved the submission of a research paper to be presented by BAC. IFAP is an independent, not-for-profit, member-based organisation that provides leading safety and risk management solutions to the workplace.
Busselton Half Ironman Triathlon 2010
Congratulations to BAC staff members Tom Mulcahy and Eoghan Mckenna who successfully completed the 2010 Busselton Half Ironman Triathlon (Friday 30th April - Sunday 2nd May). This years event included 1400 individual competitors and 200 teams with both Tom and Eoghan completing the event individually. Well done boys.
Obesity Now Australia's Leading Cause Of Death
Obesity has now overtaken smoking as the leading cause of premature death and illness in Australia.
New figures show the contribution of excessive weight to ill health has more than doubled in just six years, and by 2006 accounted for 8.7 per cent of all disease. Tobacco's role has fallen by a quarter, and now causes 6.5 per cent of illness and early death.

BAC and Bike Week
Bikeweek WA has sponsored the Byrnecut BOSS Program. As part of the support; merchandise and other bike related products will be distributed to all Byrnecut staff that have been encouraged to bring their bikes to site for Bikeweek (Sunday 21st March - Sunday 28th March). Through this initiative we hope to raise awareness of the healthy aspects of riding for fitness, emphasising the benefits of cycling to work: with the underlying theme of the program encouraging the Cycle Instead notion.
